A cross surmounts the M above, while the officina letter Γ (indicating the third workshop) appears beneath the M in the lower central field. The mint signature ΘYΠOΛS, the Byzantine name for Theopolis (Antioch on the Orontes), is inscribed in the exergue below a dividing line. The design follows the standardized Anastasian follis reform type, adapted for the Antioch mint under Justinian I. |
