| Obverse description | Emperor Justinian I depicted enthroned facing, clad in imperial loros and crown surmounted by a cross, holding a long sceptre in his right hand and a globus cruciger in his left. The figure is rendered in the formal, hieratic style characteristic of early Byzantine imperial portraiture. A cross appears in the upper right field. The surrounding legend runs along the coin's border, partially visible on this irregular flan. |
