| Obverse description | Full-length frontal effigy of Emperor Constantine IV, helmeted and clad in cuirass, standing facing in military dress. The emperor holds a spear in his right hand, the figure rendered in the flat, hieratic style characteristic of late Byzantine bronze coinage. The flan is irregular and the striking somewhat weak, as typical of Syracuse mint issues of this period. |
