Obverse description A full-length figure of the winged Saint Michael stands facing, trampling a dragon beneath his feet, with the denomination '40 FR' divided on either side of the central device. The composition is rendered in high relief with strong classical influence. A beaded or raised inner circle frames the central design, with the surrounding legend arranged along the coin's periphery.
