Obverse description Armored bust of Grand Master Manuel Pinto de Fonseca facing left, wearing a cuirass with elaborate drapery over the shoulder, long flowing wig rendered in fine detail. The effigy occupies the central field, truncated at the shoulder. The circular Latin legend reads F. EMMANVEL PINTO M M H S S, contained within a beaded inner border, with a prominent milled outer rim.

Reverse description The coat of arms of the Order of Malta and Grand Master Pinto de Fonseca, displayed on an ornate baroque cartouche surmounted by the Grand Master's crown. EMMANVEL PINTO M M H S S runs around the periphery, enclosed within a beaded inner border and a milled outer rim.
