Reverse description The reverse displays the denomination and monetary designation in five horizontal lines of capital lettering across the field, reading 4 / SKILLING / SKILLE: / MYNT· / 18 09·, with the date 1809 flanked by the Kongsberg mint mark of crossed hammers. The mintmaster's initials I·G·P· appear at the base, flanked by small floral or rosette ornaments. Rosette stops also appear at the upper left and right of the numeral 4. The inscriptions denote the coin as small change currency (skillinge mynt) of the Norwegian monetary system.
