Reverse description Central device consists of a crowned oval shield bearing the quartered arms of the Danish-Norwegian realm: the upper left quarter displays three passant lions with hearts (Denmark), and the upper right quarter features a crowned lion passant holding an axe (Norway), with three crowns arranged at the base of the shield representing Sweden. The shield is surmounted by a large royal crown with pearled decoration. The surrounding circular legend reads '4 SKILLING DANSKE', divided by the date '17 H·I AB 88', incorporating the mint master's initials 'H·I' and assayer's initials 'A·B', separated by a crossed-hammers mintmark for the Kongsberg Mint. The legend and date are evenly distributed around the field, separated by dot and cross stops.
