Reverse description A large Greek numeral delta (Δ), denoting the value of 4 nummi, occupies the central field, flanked on either side by smaller letters A and P. The central device is enclosed within a beaded circular border. The design is stark and functional, consistent with the small-module copper coinage struck at the Thessalonica mint under Justinian I. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of hammered issues of this series.
