| 背面描述 | A rampant lion passant to the left occupies the central field within a beaded inner circle, rendered in the bold, somewhat crude hammered style typical of mid-sixteenth-century colonial coinage. Superimposed upon the lion is the applied countermark of a stylized 'T' monogram, punched into the coin's surface on behalf of Philip II's authorities in the Canary Islands to validate continued circulation and revalue the piece to 4 Maravedis. The peripheral legend KAROLVS QVINTVS INDIARVM REX is partially legible around the border of the irregular flan. The countermark itself appears as a raised, incuse punch mark, clearly distinct from the original host coin design. |
