The 32 skilling denomination sits at an awkward intersection of Denmark's monetary history — large enough to require significant silver but never fully integrated into the later rigsdaler system that rationalized Danish coinage in the 1780s. Christian VII's reign was effectively administered by others for most of its duration; by 1775 the king was already exhibiting the severe mental illness that would eventually leave Johann Friedrich Struensee and later the crown prince's regency council holding real power.
