Reverse description A crowned, two-tailed rampant lion passant guardant, the heraldic symbol of Norway, depicted holding a curved halberd (bardisan) in its forepaws, positioned within a beaded inner circle. The royal mintmark appears between the lion's hind legs. The king's motto in Latin with the date divided and flanked by ornamental stops is arranged in the outer legend surrounding the central device.
