| Obverse description | Against a mirror-polished field, the obverse bears a relief depiction of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation at centre. A semicircular Cyrillic legend 'РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ' (Russian Federation) arcs along the upper rim, flanked on both sides by doubled rhombuses. Below the coat of arms, precious metal fineness 'Ag 925' and the fine metal content appear to the left, with the Saint Petersburg Mint mark (СПМД) to the right. Along the lower rim, a three-line inscription reads 'БАНК РОССИИ' (Bank of Russia), the denomination '3 РУБЛЯ' (3 Roubles), and the year of issue '2021 г.' |

UEFA Euro 2020 was postponed a full year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and held in summer 2021 across eleven cities — an unprecedented multi-host format that itself required a name change negotiation between UEFA and its sponsors. Russia hosted matches at Saint Petersburg's Krestovsky Stadium, which explains the Bank of Russia's motivation for the issue, though Russian clubs were ultimately banned from UEFA competition the following year following the invasion of Ukraine.
