| Obverse description | Plain cream-coloured paper note with a typeset letterpress design enclosed within a decorative chain-link border. The issuing authority is stated at the top in two lines — "Landkreis Recklinghausen" in smaller type above the bold legend "Amt Datteln" — followed by the denomination line "Ausgabe I. — 3 MARK — Nr." with a handwritten serial number at upper right. The central text block carries the large bold designation "KRIEGS-WECHSEL-SCHEIN" above the denomination in bold italic script "Drei Mark", flanked by rule ornaments; below, a paragraph in Fraktur type states the redemption guarantee by the Amtskasse in Datteln valid to 1 April 1915, dated "Datteln, am 13. August 1914", with two printed facsimile signatures of the Amtmann "v. Bülow" and the Amtsbeigeordnete "Eickhoff", and a further countersignature line for the Gemeindeeinnehmer at lower left accompanied by a manuscript ink signature. Gemeindeseinnehmer Wer diesen Wechsel-Schein nachmacht oder verfälscht, oder nachgemachte oder verfälschte Scheine sich verschafft und in den Verkehr bringt, kann mit Zuchthaus bestraft werden. |
