Obverse description Draped bust of Emperor Joseph I facing right, wearing a long curled periwig characteristic of the late Baroque period. The emperor's armored shoulder is visible at the lower right, with the mintmaster's initials (IP) appearing in the lower left field. The circumferential Latin legend reads IOSEPHUS D G R I S A G H BO REX, identifying the emperor by his full royal titles. The portrait is rendered in the high-relief Baroque style typical of early eighteenth-century Habsburg coinage.
