| Obverse description | The Somali national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by two leopards rampant facing inward, surmounted by a mural crown with five towers, and with crossed spears and two palm fronds tied with a ribbon in the base. The split date '20 05' flanks the shield at either side, with '2' and '0' to the left and '0' and '5' to the right. The legend 'SOMALI REPUBLIC' arcs along the upper periphery in large Latin letters. The denomination '250 SHILLINGS' is inscribed along the lower periphery. The entire design is contained within a beaded border. |
