| Description de l’avers | The obverse is issued in cheque (чекъ) format, with the heading ЧЕКЪ at the top centre within an ornamental border of interlocking guilloche cartouches. The issuer's name, Бійскаго Отдѣленія Государственнаго Банка, appears below the decorative band, with the denomination Руб. 250 stated to the right. The lower portion carries the amount written out in full in Cyrillic, ДВѢСТИ ПЯТЬДЕСЯТЪ рублей, followed by lines for the signatures of the Управляющій (Manager), Контролеръ (Controller), and Кассиръ (Cashier), all set against alternating bands of ornamental guilloche underprint. |

Biysk, a trading town on the Ob river in the Altai region, fell under successive administrations during the Russian Civil War — White, Red, and briefly contested. This note was issued by the local branch of the State Bank under the authority of whichever government held the town at the time of printing, almost certainly the short-lived Siberian provisional structure before the Red Army consolidated control of the region in late 1919 into 1920.
Provincial emergency issues like this one were produced with whatever printing resources existed locally. Circulation was narrow and brief, and most were discarded or destroyed after Soviet monetary unification rendered them worthless.
