Obverse description A standing female figure, rendered in high relief, is depicted alongside a recumbent lion at her feet, evoking allegorical imagery associated with Belgian national identity. The field also incorporates a portrait effigy of Albert I, King of the Belgians (reigned 1909–1934). The surrounding legend reads NUMISMATICA HEUSDEN - ZOLDER 1979 - 1984, commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Heusden-Zolder numismatic society, with the inscription ALBERT SPQB appearing in the lower field. The design is executed in a bold, sculptural style characteristic of Belgian commemorative medallic art of the period.
