Issued sixty years after Gagarin's April 1961 flight, this piece is one of dozens of commemoratives the Bank of Russia has struck on the Vostok anniversary at irregular intervals since the 1990s. Russia's space commemorative program is prolific to the point of diminishing returns — copper-nickel 25-rouble pieces in this format have been produced in such volume across so many themes that secondary market premiums rarely materialize.
