Additional information

The Jassy–Kishinev Offensive of August 1944 was one of the most decisive Soviet operations on the Eastern Front, collapsing Army Group South Ukraine in under two weeks and driving Romania out of the Axis war entirely. The Kitskany bridgehead, established across the Dniester near Tiraspol, served as a critical staging point for Soviet forces prior to the assault. Transdniester — a breakaway statelet unrecognized by any UN member — issues these commemorative roubles partly to anchor its identity in Soviet-era military memory, a calculated political act as much as a numismatic one.
