Obverse description Within a trapezoidal cartouche at center, the Mexican national arms depicting an eagle perched on a cactus devouring a serpent, flanked by an oak branch on the left and a laurel branch on the right. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper border outside the cartouche. The weight and fineness designation 1/4 ONZA DE ORO LEY 0.999 appears along the lower border outside the cartouche.

Reverse description Within a trapezoidal cartouche at center, a stylized stone carving of an eagle in pre-Columbian artistic style, rendered in high relief.
