Obverse description Central field displays the crowned royal cipher of King Oscar II in interlaced Gothic lettering, flanked on either side by the three crowns of Sweden (tre kronor), the traditional heraldic symbol of the realm. A royal crown surmounts the monogram, and the king's motto arcs above in a curved legend. Mintmaster initials and engraver's mark appear along the lower rim, flanking the base of the monogram. The entire design is contained within a fine beaded border.
