| Popis líce | The bimetallic centre displays a stylised numeral '25' in which the contours of the digits incorporate the figure of a marten facing right, elegantly integrating the national symbol with the denomination. Positioned at the upper portion of the outer ring, the coat of arms of the Republic of Croatia is depicted centrally, flanked by the semicircular legend 'REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA' running along the ring's outer edge. The monetary unit inscription 'KUNA' appears on the lower ring below the central core. A common oak branch bearing acorns is arranged semi-circularly to the left of the 'KUNA' inscription, while a flowering laurel branch occupies the corresponding position to the right, all rendered in fine relief against the ring field. |

Issued to mark the 400th anniversary of the University of Zagreb, founded by a royal charter from Holy Roman Emperor Matthias II in 1669 — making it one of the oldest continuously operating universities in Central Europe. The institution predates Croatian national coinage by centuries, which lends this commemorative an unusual historical asymmetry.
Croatia's 25 kuna bimetallic format had been reserved almost exclusively for commemorative issues since its introduction in 1997, so the denomination itself signals occasion rather than circulation.
