| Obverse description | The diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, rendered by Dora de Pédery-Hunt, depicted wearing the royal diadem, a necklace, and earrings. The legend arcs around the upper field reading ELIZABETH II CANADA D·G·REGINA, with the confederation anniversary dates 1867-1992 completing the inscription. The portrait is executed in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, consistent with the Dora de Pédery-Hunt effigy introduced on Canadian coinage in 1990. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features a finely detailed depiction of a wind-swept jack pine (Pinus banksiana) standing prominently at centre, its branches dramatically swept to the left above a rugged Canadian Shield landscape of exposed rock outcroppings and a treeline of conifers receding into the background. The provincial name ONTARIO arcs along the upper legend within a beaded border, while the denomination 25 CENTS is inscribed in the lower field. A small engraver's initial GS appears at lower right of the central design, attributing the reverse to Gary Staab. The deeply mirrored proof fields provide sharp contrast to the frosted device surfaces. |
