Reverse description The reverse, designed by Ken Danby, depicts two exuberant figures with arms raised in celebration, set against a stylised sunburst radiating from behind them, symbolising freedom and the dawn of the new millennium. A large Canadian maple leaf occupies the lower portion of the field, serving as a ground for the figures and emphasising national identity. The designer's initials KV appear to the lower left of the maple leaf. The bilingual legend FREEDOM 2000 LIBERTÉ arcs along the upper rim, while CANADA is inscribed along the lower rim. A beaded inner border encircles the entire design.
