The "Family" quarter was one of twelve 25-cent pieces issued throughout 2000 under the Millennium Series, each assigned a theme voted on through a national public competition that drew over a million submissions. The program was one of the most ambitious thematic circulation coin campaigns in Canadian history, though the silver collector versions like this one were never intended for a cash register.
KM#375a distinguishes the sterling silver collector strike from the nickel circulation issue, KM#375.
