Reverse description The denomination '25' is prominently displayed in large numerals at the center of the field, accompanied by the abbreviation 'ct' to the lower right, all set against a distinctive background of intersecting horizontal and vertical lines forming a grid pattern. The date appears in the lower portion of the field flanked by the Utrecht mint mark (bow or other mintmaster's privy mark depending on year) to the left and the mintmaster's mark to the right. The overall design is clean and geometric, characteristic of late 20th-century Dutch coinage.

Additional information

The Beatrix coinage series launched in 1982 following her April 1980 coronation, itself overshadowed by significant rioting in Amsterdam — demonstrators opposing the housing crisis clashed violently with police on the day she took the oath, making it one of the more turbulent royal inaugurations in modern Dutch history. The 25-cent denomination was quietly discontinued when the Netherlands adopted the euro in 2002, ending a nickel series that had run with minimal modification for two decades.
