| 正面描述 | The national coat of arms of Costa Rica occupies the central field, depicted in an oval cartouche. The design features three volcanic peaks representing the three mountain ranges, two sailing vessels symbolizing the country's position between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, a rising sun in the background, and five stars above the shield representing the five provinces. The arms are surrounded by a decorative border, with the legend REPUBLICA DE COSTA RICA arcing around the periphery and the date 1924 appearing at the base. |

Costa Rica's 1924 coinage was produced under contract at the Philadelphia Mint, a long-standing arrangement that reflected the country's lack of domestic minting capacity through much of the early twentieth century. The .650 silver standard adopted for this series was a deliberate reduction from finer earlier issues, driven by post-WWI silver price volatility that made higher-purity coins economically impractical for small-denomination circulation.
