| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the interlaced royal cypher of Christian VII — a crowned, intertwined 'C7' monogram executed in bold relief — surmounted by a large royal crown. The circular Latin legend reads D·G·DAN·NOR·VAN·GOT·REX, abbreviated from 'Dei Gratia Daniae, Norvegiae, Vandalorum Gothorumque Rex' (By the Grace of God, King of Denmark, Norway, the Vandals and the Goths). The legend is separated from the milled border by a continuous inner beaded rim. The overall design is characteristic of the restrained Neoclassical engraving style employed at the Kongsberg Mint in the mid-eighteenth century. |
