| Obverse description | The obverse features the elaborately interlaced royal cypher of Christian VI — two mirrored Cs intertwined with a central W — rendered in a bold Baroque style and occupying the majority of the field. The monogram is surmounted by a large royal crown with beaded arch detail. A circular Latin legend surrounds the device, reading D.G.REX.DAN.NORV.VA.GO., proclaiming the king's sovereignty by divine grace over Denmark, Norway, the Vandals, and the Goths. The design is contained within a beaded inner border. The overall engraving displays the refined decorative character typical of Danish-Norwegian milled coinage of the mid-eighteenth century. |
