| Obverse description | Eight stylised Barcelos cockerel figures arranged in a radial pinwheel pattern around a central Portuguese shield of arms, the cockerels rendered in a bold, graphic folk-art style with dotted detailing along their bodies. The Portuguese coat of arms occupies the central field, enclosed within a circular border with cross-shaped extensions. The letters of PORTUGAL and the date 2016 are interspersed between the cockerel figures along the outer border, separated by small heart motifs. The design evokes the celebrated Galo de Barcelos folk pottery tradition in a contemporary artistic interpretation. |
