| 背面描述 | The reverse features a horizontal trail of footprints in snow traversing the central field, a poetic motif referencing Veidenbaums' life and verse. The inscription 'EDUARDS' curves in a semi-circle along the upper periphery, while the denomination '2,5 EURO' is positioned at the lower portion of the field. The minimalist composition, dominated by the expressive snow-print motif, reflects the artistic sensibility characteristic of Latvian commemorative issues. |

Eduards Veidenbaums died of tuberculosis in 1897 at age 23, leaving behind a body of lyric poetry that Tsarist censors had prevented from reaching print during his lifetime. His work circulated in manuscript among Latvian intellectuals for years before it could be published openly. The 2017 issue marks the 150th anniversary of his birth.
Latvia's collector coinage program has consistently favored literary and cultural figures over political ones — a deliberate pattern that predates independence restoration.
