| Additional information |
Miklós Zrínyi — the 17th-century Croatian-Hungarian military commander and poet — died in 1664 under circumstances that have never been fully resolved. The official account recorded a hunting accident: a wild boar. Habsburg contemporaries were notably incurious about investigating further, and suspicions of assassination by imperial interests have persisted in Hungarian historiography for three and a half centuries. This coin was issued for the 350th anniversary of his death.
