Obverse description The coat of arms of the Republic of Hungary occupies the central field, depicting the traditional Hungarian shield with alternating red and white stripes on the dexter side and the apostolic double cross on a green mount on the sinister side, surmounted by the Holy Crown of Saint Stephen. The date of issue is divided to either side of the arms, reading '19' to the left and '98' to the right. The circular legend 'MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG' arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '2000 FORINT' is inscribed in large characters across the lower field. The mint mark 'BP.' appears at the lower left, and the engraver's signature 'BOGNÁR' is visible to the lower right of the shield. The design is framed by a continuous beaded border.
