His cursive facsimile signature appears in the upper left field of the coin. To the right of the portrait, the dates 1786–1864 denote his birth and death years. The engraver's initials KV appear in the lower left field. The portrait is executed in a naturalistic, medallic style with fine detail in the subject's facial features and period costume. |
