| Obverse description | The Czech national coat of arms — a crowned double-tailed lion rampant — occupies the central field, rendered in bold relief. The denomination '200' appears in the lower field beneath the arms. The circular legend 'ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA' runs along the left and lower periphery in large, widely spaced Latin capital letters. The design is characterized by a flat, satin field typical of the Czech commemorative series. |

František Škroup composed the melody that became the Czech national anthem in 1834, originally written as a song within the comic opera Dráteník. The tune was never intended as anything so solemn — it was a simple, nostalgic piece asking "where is my home?" The Czech National Bank issued this coin in 2001 to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth.
Škroup died in Rotterdam in 1862, having spent his final years conducting opera in the Netherlands, largely forgotten in his homeland.
