Part of Singapore's long-running lunar bullion series, the 2015 goat issue marks the Year of the Goat under the Chinese sexagenary cycle — a calendrical system that has governed agricultural and ceremonial timing across East Asia for over two millennia. Singapore's Monetary Authority entered the competitive lunar gold bullion market relatively late compared to the Perth Mint's Australian Lunar series, but the .9999 fine standard and the 5 troy ounce format placed it squarely against the premium tier of that market.
Mintage figures for this issue were tightly controlled, consistent with the MAS policy of limiting lunar gold to preserve collector premiums over spot.
