| 背面描述 | Two koalas resting on eucalyptus branches are depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, their characteristic rounded ears and dense fur rendered in fine detail. Behind the koalas, a frosted outline map of the Australian continent serves as a backdrop, with the small 'P' mintmark of the Perth Mint positioned to the right within the map outline. The legend 'Australian Koala' appears in prominent script lettering across the upper field. Along the lower border, the inscription '2001 2 OZ. 9995 PLATINUM' is separated by a beaded inner border. |

Australia's platinum koala series launched in 1987 as one of the first government-issued platinum bullion programs in the world, arriving shortly after the Soviet Palladium and platinum issues but ahead of most Western competitors. The one-ounce denomination carried a face value of $200 AUD — nominal by any bullion standard, but legally tender nonetheless. By 2001, the fourth portrait of Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley had been in circulation on Australian coinage since 1999, replacing the Raphael Maklouf effigy used through the 1990s. Rank-Broadley's likeness was adopted across Commonwealth mints with minimal modification.
