Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features a highly detailed relief reproduction of a Baroque ceiling fresco interior from the Krzeszów Abbey church, depicting a dynamic composition of angelic and saintly figures amid sweeping architectural elements and elaborate ornamentation. To the right of the central design, the Polish state emblem — a crowned white eagle — is rendered in sharp relief against the mirror-polished field. The denomination 'ZŁ 20' appears in the lower right, flanked by the date '2010' at lower left. The legend 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA' curves along the lower rim in Latin script, identifying the issuing state.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued as part of NBP's ongoing series commemorating historic Polish monasteries, this piece marks the Benedictine abbey at Krzeszów in Lower Silesia — one of the most architecturally elaborate Baroque complexes in Central Europe, built largely under Abbot Bernhard Rosa in the late 17th century. The embedded ceramic element, a recurring device in Polish collector coinage of this period, draws direct material reference to the tilework and decorative craft traditions of the abbey itself.

Krzeszów survived dissolution under Prussian secularization edicts in 1810, remaining dormant for over a century before Benedictine nuns reestablished the community in 1924.
