| Obverse description | Central design features the Taedong Gate (Taedongmun), a historic East Gate of Pyongyang, rendered in fine detail with its characteristic multi-tiered pavilion roof set upon a stone fortification wall. The circular legend in Hangul script runs along the upper periphery, reading the full name of the issuing authority. The denomination '20 원' appears in the lower field beneath the gate. The overall design is executed in a polished relief against a mirror field, lending the coin a proof-like appearance. |
