Obverse description Central device depicts a detailed rendering of the Taedong Gate (Taedongmun), a historic multi-tiered Korean pavilion gate set upon a massive stone rampart, surrounded by stylized trees and foliage in the lower field. The Hangul legend reading '조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행' (Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '20 원' appears in Hangul numerals at the bottom of the coin.
