Obverse description A detailed high-relief depiction of the Taedong Gate (East Gate of Pyongyang), a historic multi-tiered Korean pavilion structure, occupies the central field against a polished gilt background. The gate is rendered with fine architectural detail, including characteristic curved eaves and a raised stone foundation, surrounded by stylized foliage at the base. The circular legend in Hangul script reading 조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행 runs along the upper periphery, identifying the issuing institution. The denomination '20 WON' is inscribed in Latin characters along the lower rim.
