| Obverse description | The obverse features a detailed depiction of a traditional Korean multi-tiered pavilion set upon a stone terrace, rendered in high relief against a recessed field. The structure, characteristic of classical Korean palatial architecture, is shown at a three-quarter perspective with finely engraved roof tiers and supporting columns. A circular legend in Hangul script reading 조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행 (Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) surrounds the central design along the upper rim.
