Obverse description The obverse features a detailed depiction of a traditional Korean multi-tiered pavilion set upon a stone terrace, rendered in high relief against a recessed field. The structure, characteristic of classical Korean palatial architecture, is shown at a three-quarter perspective with finely engraved roof tiers and supporting columns. A circular legend in Hangul script reading 조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행 (Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) surrounds the central design along the upper rim. The date 2007 appears in the lower left field and the denomination 20 WON in Latin script to the lower right, with a five-pointed star at the bottom centre serving as a separator.
