| Obverse description | Central to the obverse is a detailed depiction of the Taedong Gate (Taedongmun), one of the historic Eastern Gates of Pyongyang, rendered in fine relief against a polished field. The traditional Korean multi-tiered pavilion structure is shown in three-quarter perspective, with surrounding landscaping including trees visible at the base. The Korean legend 조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행 (Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) arcs around the upper periphery, while the date 2007 appears at the lower left and the denomination 20WON at the lower right. A small five-pointed star ornament is positioned at the bottom of the design, serving as a divider between the date and denomination. |
