| Additional information |
Egypt's 1980 coinage was produced during the final year of Sadat's presidency, a period when the country was navigating severe economic strain following the Camp David Accords and the subsequent Arab League boycott. Hard currency was scarce, and the Central Bank was under considerable pressure to maintain a credible circulating coinage while managing a weakening pound.
KM#507 is a transitional type — part of a broader reworking of Egyptian decimal coinage that followed the shift away from the millieme-heavy pre-1973 series.
