| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of Emperor Maurice Tiberius, helmeted and cuirassed, depicted in a frontal military pose characteristic of late Byzantine iconography. The emperor holds a globus cruciger in his right hand, symbolizing imperial authority over the Christian world, while his left arm bears a shield. The legend encircling the bust reads D N MAVRC TIb PP AVG, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The portrait is rendered in the schematic, hieratic style typical of Constantinopolitan and Thessalonican workshop production of the late sixth century. |

The legend ANNO with the corresponding regnal year number is distributed around or beside the denomination mark, following standard Byzantine fiscal coinage practice.
