Beschrijving voorzijde Facing bust of Emperor Maurice Tiberius, helmeted and cuirassed, depicted in a frontal military pose characteristic of late Byzantine iconography. The emperor holds a globus cruciger in his right hand, symbolizing imperial authority over the Christian world, while his left arm bears a shield. The legend encircling the bust reads D N MAVRC TIb PP AVG, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The portrait is rendered in the schematic, hieratic style typical of Constantinopolitan and Thessalonican workshop production of the late sixth century.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse features the large denomination mark K (Greek numeral for 20, denoting the half-follis of 20 nummi) prominently displayed in the centre of the field, with a cross above and the regnal year in Roman numerals to the right. The mint signature TεS (Thessalonica) appears in the lower portion of the field beneath the K. The legend ANNO with the corresponding regnal year number is distributed around or beside the denomination mark, following standard Byzantine fiscal coinage practice. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The image shows ANNO XIII (year 13, corresponding to 593-594 AD) with the TεS mint mark clearly legible below.
