Obverse description Facing bust of emperor Maurice Tiberius, crowned and mantled, with a trefoil or chevron ornament on the crown. The emperor holds a mappa in his right hand and an eagle-tipped sceptre in his left. The surrounding legend is a heavily blundered, largely illegible derivative of the inscription used under Tiberius II Constantine. The style is characteristic of the debased provincial workmanship typical of the Antioch mint during this period.
