Additional information

Oscar II was the last Swedish monarch to issue gold coinage before Sweden's participation in the Latin Monetary Union effectively standardized Scandinavian gold output alongside Denmark and Norway. The 20 Kronor denomination was Sweden's primary gold coin under that agreement, which had bound the three kingdoms to a common monetary framework since 1873. Production in these final years of Oscar's reign was modest — he died in 1907, and his successor Gustaf V did not continue the type.
