Issued to commemorate Lesya Ukrainka's 1911 dramatic poem "Lisova Pisnya," this coin appeared on the work's centenary. Ukrainka wrote the piece in just ten days while convalescing from tuberculosis in Egypt — the fevered speed of composition became part of its mythology. The poem drew heavily on Volhynian folk legend absorbed during her childhood near Zvyagel.
The 67.25g planchet places this among Ukraine's heavier commemorative issues, consistent with the NBU's large-format cultural series of the period.
