| Obverse description | Stylised allegorical figure of a postal messenger, depicted in dynamic stride to the right upon a globe, wearing two stacked hats. The figure holds an envelope in the raised right hand and sounds a post horn with the left. A crescent moon appears to the left of the figure and a radiant sun to the right. Sixteen stars arc behind the figure in the upper field, and two decorative garlands flank the composition to the left and right. The commemorative dates 1849 – 1999 appear as the legend, marking the 150th anniversary of the Swiss postal service. |
