Beschrijving voorzijde A finely cross-hatched inner field occupies the central disk, rendered in a modern grid pattern that serves as the primary design element. The denomination '20 FR' and the date '2002' are incused into the textured field in a contemporary digital-style typeface, arranged in two lines. A raised concentric ring separates the central field from the broad outer border, upon which the circumferential legend reads 'CONFOEDERATIO HELVETICA' in evenly spaced Latin capitals. The mint mark 'B' appears discreetly at the lower portion of the inner ring border.

Aanvullende informatie

Expo.02 was Switzerland's national exposition held across four artificial islands — the "Arteplages" — constructed on Lakes Neuchâtel, Biel, and Murten. The event ran from May to October 2002 and drew roughly ten million visitors, a remarkable figure for a country of Switzerland's population. Swissmint issued this commemorative to coincide with the exposition, which had itself been delayed twice from an original 1998 planned opening after severe cost overruns and organizational collapse nearly cancelled the project entirely.
